The bill would amend Government Code to allow a beneficiary of a member of the Employees Retirement System to assign certain death benefits to be paid directly to a funeral director or funeral establishment for funeral services. The Employees Retirement System anticipates any additional costs to implement the bill could be absorbed with existing resources.The bill would take effect on September 1, 2015, and would apply only to a benefit that is payable on or after January 1, 2016. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
