                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 5, 2015      TO: Honorable Joan Huffman, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB442 by Gonzales, Larry (Relating to assignment of certain death benefits payable by the Employees Retirement System of Texas.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Government Code to allow a beneficiary of a member of the Employees Retirement System to assign certain death benefits to be paid directly to a funeral director or funeral establishment for funeral services. The Employees Retirement System anticipates any additional costs to implement the bill could be absorbed with existing resources.The bill would take effect on September 1, 2015, and would apply only to a benefit that is payable on or after January 1, 2016.
