                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 29, 2015      TO: Honorable Jim Murphy, Chair, House Committee on Corrections      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB678 by Turner, Sylvester (Relating to advance notice regarding the housing of sexually violent predators at a new location in various counties of this state.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to require that the Office of Violent Sex Offender Management (OVSOM) provide advance notice of any intent to house committed persons in a residence or facility that has not previously served as housing for committed persons under the chapter. The bill would also require advance notice from vendors submitting proposals to OVSOM under certain conditions. The bill would require notice in writing to each member of the legislature who represents a district that includes a county where the housing is to be located. OVSOM indicates that implementation of the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within current resources.
