The bill amends Chapters 262 and 263 of the Family Code to require courts in child protection cases to inquire as to whether the child is Native American and identify any tribe with which the child is associated. The Department of Family and Protective Services does not anticipate any significant fiscal impact resulting from the bill. The Office of Court Administration does not anticipate any significant fiscal impact to the state court system resulting from the bill. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2015. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to local courts is anticipated.
