                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 19, 2015      TO: Honorable Joan Huffman, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB825 by Giddings (Relating to procedures for identifying any Native American heritage of children in certain hearings in suits affecting the parent-child relationship.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill amends Chapters 262 and 263 of the Family Code to require courts in child protection cases to inquire as to whether the child is Native American and identify any tribe with which the child is associated. The Department of Family and Protective Services does not anticipate any significant fiscal impact resulting from the bill. The Office of Court Administration does not anticipate any significant fiscal impact to the state court system resulting from the bill. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2015. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to local courts is anticipated.
