                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 30, 2015      TO: Honorable Larry Phillips, Chair, House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB890 by Klick (Relating to reducing certain fees for a license to carry a concealed handgun for county jailers.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Government Code to allow an applicant for an original or renewal concealed handgun license who is a county jailer to pay a reduced license fee of $25 (instead of $70).  The Department of Public Safety has indicated that while the agency does not collect data on the number of concealed handgun license holders who are jailers, the agency estimates the change in fee is not anticipated to be a significant revenue impact.This bill would take effect September 1, 2015. Local Government Impact The reduced fee could spare some degree of expense either for county jailers or their employers.
