The bill would amend the Penal Code as it relates to the definition of an illegal knife. Under the provisions of the bill, a bowie knife would no longer be considered an illegal knife. This analysis assumes the bill would not result in a significant impact on state correctional agencies. Local Government Impact  Implementing the provisions of the bill could cause a decrease in the number of offenders remanded to local jails. Changes in costs associated with enforcement, prosecution, and confinement are not anticipated to have a significant fiscal impact.
