                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 21, 2015      TO: Honorable John Zerwas, Chair, House Committee on Higher Education      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB935 by Guillen (Relating to the approval by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board of baccalaureate degree programs offered by public junior colleges.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Education Code relating to the approval by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) of baccalaureate degree programs offered by public junior colleges. The bill would require THECB to apply the same criteria and standards THECB uses to approve baccalaureate degree programs at general academic teaching institutions.Based on information provided by THECB, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
