The bill would amend Chapter 161 of the Human Resource Code to require the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) to develop and implement a pilot project using radio frequency identification technology in certain group homes where Home and Community-based Services (HCS) waiver providers are providing services and submit a report to the legislature evaluating the project. The bill would require the pilot project to be implemented by January 1, 2016. The bill would authorize agencies to seek any necessary federal waiver or authorization and to delay implementation until waiver or authorization is granted. It is assumed that any costs associated with the pilot could be absorbed within available resources.
