One aspect of local government that deserves a high level of attention is the election of school board officials. Although school boards manage and oversee the daily operations of schools in Texas, there are a limited number of ways to hold these elected officials accountable. H.J.R. 86 seeks to allow another means by which school board members can be held accountable. CRIMINAL JUSTICE IMPACT It is the committee's opinion that this resolution does not expressly create a criminal offense, increase the punishment for an existing criminal offense or category of offenses, or change the eligibility of a person for community supervision, parole, or mandatory supervision. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY It is the committee's opinion that this resolution does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.
