 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Dr. Robert Bezdek, retired professor of political
 science at Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi, has been named
 professor emeritus by The Texas A&M University System Board of
 Regents; and
 WHEREAS, Emeritus status is conferred on select former
 faculty members and administrators in recognition of their
 significant contributions to the educational community; many of
 these distinguished educators continue to serve the university
 during their retirement; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. Bezdek  began his career at A&M--Corpus Christi
 in 1973, the year the school opened, and he played an instrumental
 role in developing its political science curriculum; over the
 years, he also served as faculty representative on the Academic
 Council, as chair of the College Personnel Committee, and as
 president of the university chapter of the Texas Association of
 College Teachers; his dedicated efforts were previously recognized
 in 2002, when he was named The Texas A&M University System Regents
 Professor of Political Science; after an outstanding tenure that
 spanned 37 years, he retired in 2010; and
 WHEREAS, Highly sought after for his professional expertise,
 Dr. Bezdek has provided political analysis for the media on
 countless occasions, and he has also done frequent work for city
 officials; in 2001, he was the sole consultant appointed by two
 governmental entities to advise on the redistricting of their
 single-member districts; and
 WHEREAS, Through his myriad endeavors in behalf of Texas A&M
 University--Corpus Christi, Dr. Robert Bezdek has contributed
 immeasurably to advancing the mission of that school, and he is
 indeed deserving of this most recent accolade; now, therefore, be
 it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Robert Bezdek on his
 designation as professor emeritus at Texas A&M University--Corpus
 Christi and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success
 and happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Dr. Bezdek as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
