 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Dr. Jeannie Meza-Chavez can take well-deserved
 pride in the outstanding service she has rendered to the residents
 of her community during her first nine months as superintendent of
 the Tornillo Independent School District; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. Meza-Chavez's extensive experience includes
 service as a teacher, an assistant principal, a principal, a
 student activities director, and a human resources director; she
 began her career with Socorro ISD and went on to serve as principal
 of the Young Women's Leadership Academy of San Antonio ISD; she then
 worked as the director of Secondary Personnel and Recruiting for El
 Paso ISD before becoming the superintendent of Tornillo ISD in
 April 2014; and
 WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at El Paso,
 Dr. Meza-Chavez earned her teaching certification from UT San
 Antonio and her master's degree in education from Sul Ross State
 University; she holds a doctorate in curriculum and instruction,
 and her paper, "Technology Use of College Bound Seniors from a
 Southwest Border Community," written in collaboration with
 Dr. David Rutledge, was published in the Journal of Border
 Educational Research; in 2005, she helped to found the Latinas
 Triunfadoras Scholarship, which has awarded 44 scholarships to
 students from her alma mater, Ysleta High School; and
 WHEREAS, Through her unwavering commitment to Tornillo ISD
 students and staff, Dr. Meza-Chavez has led the way in fostering a
 supportive and challenging educational environment, one that gives
 students a vision of what they might attain if they strive for
 success and that equips them with skills that will help them to
 build fulfilling and productive lives; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Dr. Jeannie Meza-Chavez, superintendent
 of the Tornillo Independent School District, for her admirable
 service to her fellow citizens and extend to her sincere best wishes
 for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared or Dr. Meza-Chavez as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
