R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Mariachi Los Lobos from Palmview High School in
Mission was crowned 6A champion of the Texas High School State
Mariachi Competition, held in San Antonio in February 2015; and
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American School Board
Members Association and the Texas Association of Mariachi
Educators, this annual competition brought together 35 high school
mariachi ensembles from across the Lone Star State; and
WHEREAS, This was the fifth consecutive appearance by
Mariachi Los Lobos at the state finals, where the ensemble claimed
its first championship title in 2011; ably led by director Mayra
Garcia, the members showcased their musicianship with an impressive
set that earned them first place; and
WHEREAS, The members of the Palmview High School Mariachi Los
Lobos have proven themselves one of the finest ensembles in Texas,
and these talented young musicians may take pride in this
outstanding accomplishment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Palmview High School Mariachi
Los Lobos on being named 6A champion at the 2015 MASBA/TAME Texas
High School State Mariachi Competition and extend to the group's
members sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mariachi Los Lobos as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
