84R14532 BPG-D By: Leach H.R. No. 1549 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Dr. Brian T. Binggeli has been selected to serve as the new superintendent of the Plano Independent School District, and he is scheduled to assume that post in July 2015; and WHEREAS, A skilled administrator with more than 30 years of experience in education, Dr. Binggeli has served since 2009 as superintendent of Brevard Public Schools, a district in Florida consisting of more than 73,000 students at over 90 campuses and 20 special centers; he was previously a member of the leadership team of one of the nation's largest school districts, Fairfax County Public Schools in Falls Church, Virginia, where he served as Cluster IV assistant superintendent, with programmatic responsibility for 29 schools and 22,000 students; and WHEREAS, Brian Binggeli graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and went on to complete his master's degree at Virginia State University and his doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies at Virginia Tech University; he began teaching in Ohio in 1981 and later served as a teacher, coach, and principal in Virginia before becoming director of middle education and then executive director of curriculum and instruction for Spotsylvania County Schools; in addition, he has been an adjunct professor in the Virginia Tech Educational Leadership and Policy Studies doctoral program and in the University of Virginia administrative licensure program; and WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous accolades, Dr. Binggeli was recognized with the 2011 Florida Star Superintendent Award by the Consortium of Florida Education Foundation, and he was named the 2002 Outstanding Middle School Principal of Virginia by the Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals; moreover, he was selected as the Henrico County Public Schools Instructional Leader of the Year for 2000; and WHEREAS, Over the course of his long and distinguished career in education, Brian Binggeli has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to improving student achievement, and Plano ISD is indeed fortunate to have the benefit of his vision and expertise; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Brian Binggeli on his selection as superintendent of the Plano Independent School District and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in his new post; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Binggeli as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
