No. 1570 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Members of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America at Silsbee High School acquitted themselves with distinction at the Region IV competition in Galveston on February 19-21, 2015; and WHEREAS, Under the guidance of FCCLA advisors Donna Shannon and Diane Parks, Silsbee students worked for months to prepare for their leadership meeting and polish their presentations; Kenndall Stone was selected as an FCCLA state officer for the 2015-2016 school year, and Kennedi Dionne Gilder will serve as Region IV vice president of service learning; and WHEREAS, Clayton Talley was named first-place winner in the Teach and Train STAR event, and he will advance to the state level of competition, along with Kara Russ, second-place winner in the Early Childhood category, and Kaitlyn Guidry, who brought home third place in the National Programs In Action event; and WHEREAS, Other winners advancing to state include Halle Heufelder, Jerry Wayne Paine, and Emily Humphrey, who claimed second-place medals for their Life Event Planning project, and Darian Whitstine, who placed sixth in the Fashion Design contest; Emily Marin and Kennedi Gilder received honorable mention in the Recycle and Redesign and the Entrepreneurship events; serving as room consultants for STAR events were Ali Day, Sarah Harper, Dalton White, and Darian King; and WHEREAS, The Silsbee FCCLA members gained valuable skills and experience through their participation in Region IV competition, and they may indeed take pride in their accomplishments; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Silsbee FCCLA members on their fine showing in the 2015 Region IV competition and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Silsbee FCCLA as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
