No. 1572 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The boys' basketball team from Big Sandy High School in Dallardsville enjoyed an outstanding 2014-2015 season, advancing all the way to the University Interscholastic League 2A championship game; and WHEREAS, After claiming the district title with their exceptional play in the regular season, the Wildcats began their thrilling playoff run in dominating fashion, crushing Price Carlisle High School by a score of 97-40 before going on to post consecutive victories over Pineland West Sabine, Kerens, and Tenaha High Schools to reach the state tournament for the 13th time in school history; and WHEREAS, In the semifinal showdown with Schulenburg High School on March 13 in San Antonio, junior guard Angel Bullock poured in 36 points to lead Big Sandy to a 76-54 triumph and secure a place in the state championship game against Canadian High School; in that contest, Big Sandy gave a valiant effort but ultimately fell short to conclude the season with an impressive record of 38 wins and just 4 losses; and WHEREAS, Under the able guidance of head coach Kevin Foster and assistant coach Cory Maze, the Wildcats received essential contributions throughout the season from each member of the team; in addition to Mr. Bullock, the roster includes Benson Williams, Preston Cain, Laine Langley, Seth Maze, Trent Williams, Steven Renfro, Zach Dickens, Samuel Richard, Joseph Williams, and Ryan Brown; and WHEREAS, These talented student-athletes have demonstrated hard work and an unwavering commitment to excellence, and they are a source of enduring pride to their classmates and their many supporters in the local community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Big Sandy High School boys' basketball team on reaching the UIL 2A state championship game and extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
