 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Martin's Mill High School Lady Mustangs proved
 themselves one of the finest basketball teams in Texas by capturing
 the 2015 University Interscholastic League 2A state championship
 with a victory on March 7 at the Alamodome in San Antonio; and
 WHEREAS, The title game win closed out an unforgettable year
 in which Martin's Mill claimed the district crown with its
 outstanding play during the regular season and then blazed a path
 through the playoffs; the team reeled off commanding victories in
 its first four games of the postseason and was not tested until the
 semifinals of the state tournament, when it edged LaPoynor High
 School by a score of 36-33 to advance to the 2A title game; and
 WHEREAS, Playing the team from Gruver High School in the
 tournament final, the Lady Mustangs found themselves in a
 hard-fought battle but held the lead for nearly the entire game; up
 by only three points with just under seven minutes to play, the
 Martin's Mill players kept their composure and put the contest away
 with strong free-throw shooting down the stretch to seal a 49-36
 triumph; and
 WHEREAS, Senior Cheyenne Brown scored 29 points in this final
 appearance of her high school basketball career and was honored as
 the game's Most Valuable Player; vital contributions were also made
 throughout the year by the other members of the roster: Madi Daniel,
 Hannah Celsur, Hailey Hawes, Alyssa Pate, Jocie Bennett, Sarah
 Munns, Hannah Munns, Hailey Celsur, Jacee Greenlee, Briley Moon,
 and Calli Camacho; and
 WHEREAS, With its win in the 2A final, Martin's Mill claimed
 its fourth state championship in the past nine years and has been a
 contender in every state tournament but one since 2006; the
 2014-2015 squad was ably led by head coach Laura Jenkins, who took
 the helm at the beginning of the season after previously serving as
 an assistant coach for the Lady Mustangs; and
 WHEREAS, Winning a state title represents the culmination of
 countless hours of hard work and an enduring commitment to
 excellence, and the talented student-athletes of the Lady Mustangs
 basketball team have become a source of great pride to their school
 and community; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Martin's Mill High School
 girls' basketball team on winning the UIL 2A state championship and
 extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best
 wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
