R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Youth Chorus of Central Texas has deservedly
earned the 2014 Model of Unity Award, and this achievement indeed
merits special recognition; and
WHEREAS, Presented by the Community Race Relations Coalition
of Waco, the Model of Unity Award honors the diversity of the Youth
Chorus of Central Texas, which features singers from third through
ninth grades; Nate Hutcherson and Florence Scattergood direct this
notable group, which since its inception in 2013 has numbered some
63 performers representing 25 Waco-area schools; and
WHEREAS, Through their participation in the Youth Chorus of
Central Texas, these exceptional young people have demonstrated
great talent and ability, and they may indeed look forward to a
future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate directors Nate Hutcherson and
Florence Scattergood and the members of the Youth Chorus of Central
Texas on their receipt of the 2014 Model of Unity Award and extend
to them sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
