 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Arthur Skelton retired from the Chapel Hill
 Independent School District in December 2014, and the conclusion of
 his outstanding career provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on
 the contributions of this esteemed professional; and
 WHEREAS, "Butch" Skelton has a long-standing connection to
 Chapel Hill ISD, as his father and grandfather both served on the
 school board, and he and his siblings attended school in the
 district; following his high school graduation in 1955, he enrolled
 at East Texas State University and earned a bachelor's degree in
 business administration, and he later returned to the university
 and completed a master's degree in education; and
 WHEREAS, This veteran educator taught at Mineola High School
 before joining Chapel Hill ISD in 1986; initially a teacher, he
 later became a principal and most recently served the district as
 elementary assistant principal and as an administrator; during his
 tenure, he saw enrollment grow to upwards of 1,000 students, and the
 guidance he provided to the district's teachers helped them to
 excel in their educational mission; Chapel Hill campuses have
 consistently received high ratings in state testing, and the
 elementary school was recognized as part of the prestigious Blue
 Ribbon Schools Program by the U.S. Department of Education in 2009;
 and
 WHEREAS, For 25 years, Butch Skelton helped provide Chapel
 Hill's young people with a strong foundation on which to build, and
 he may reflect with pride on his many achievements as he begins the
 next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Arthur Skelton on his retirement
 from the Chapel Hill Independent School District and extend to him
 sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Skelton as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
