Graham of Dallas has given generously of his time and energy in behalf of his community; and WHEREAS, A successful independent oil and gas producer, Mr. Graham has served the Dallas Park and Recreation Board as president and as committee chair, and he is a former president of the Friends of Fair Park; he has also chaired and co-chaired the master plan development committees of White Rock Lake and Fair Park, and served as a director of the Dallas Grand Prix at Fair Park and the Dallas 2012 Olympic Bid Committee; a cofounder of the "Send a Kid to Camp" program, he has been the chair of the advisory board of CitiBeat, Inc., an inner-city youth soccer program; and WHEREAS, Mr. Graham has regularly accepted prestigious appointments from the mayor and city council of Dallas, serving as the city's sole negotiator for the contract renegotiation of the Starplex Amphitheater (now the Gexa Energy Pavilion), as chair of the World Cup Dallas 1994 Bid Committee, as co-chair of the World Cup Dallas 1994 Host Committee and the World Cup Dallas 1994 Security Task Force Committee, and as co-chair of the city's 2009 effort to bring the FIFA World Cup games back to Dallas in 2018 or 2022; and WHEREAS, A former director and executive committee member of the Mountain States Legal Foundation, Mr. Graham currently serves on the board of DonamiSport, which supports the YMCA of Liberia, and as chair of the Friends of Dallas Parks; his many awards and recognitions include the Dallas All Sports Association "Big D" Award, induction into the North Texas Soccer Hall of Fame, and charter membership in the Knights of the Magnolia Society; and WHEREAS, A native of Tyler, Mr. Graham earned his degree in petroleum land management and finance from The University of Texas at Austin and his master's degree in business administration from Southern Methodist University; in all his endeavors, he enjoys the love and support of his wife, Pamela, and his sons, Jace and Tyler; and WHEREAS, Communities across the Lone Star State derive great benefit from the leadership and engagement of public-spirited citizens such as Jim Graham, and this esteemed Texan may indeed take pride in all that he has achieved; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby commend James P. Graham for his outstanding record of civic involvement and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Graham as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
