 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Members of the Texas chapter of the American
 Fraternal Alliance are having a Texas kickoff for Join Hands Day on
 May 2, 2015; and
 WHEREAS, A national organization of fraternal benefit
 societies, the American Fraternal Alliance facilitates connections
 among its members and promotes issues of mutual concern; the
 Fraternal Alliance of Texas includes some 1,840 chapters of 40
 different societies, which combined have more than 643,000
 individual members and provide a variety of services to their
 communities; and
 WHEREAS, Join Hands Day, held nationwide on the first
 Saturday in May, encourages youth and adults to participate in
 helpful local projects; in addition to this annual event, the
 alliance supports U.S. service members at home and abroad and
 cooperates with Habitat for Humanity, the Special Olympics, the
 Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Radiothon, and KaBoom!; the
 group also addresses the problem of hunger by backing local food
 pantries, international meal packaging programs, and soup
 kitchens; and
 WHEREAS, Through their charitable financial contributions
 and commendable voluntary endeavors, members of the Fraternal
 Alliance of Texas have immeasurably benefited countless people
 across the Lone Star State, and the Join Hands Day events provide a
 fitting opportunity to recognize and commend the organization for
 its many good works; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby honor the Fraternal Alliance of Texas and extend
 to all those involved with Join Hands Day sincere best wishes for
 the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the alliance as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
