H.R. No. 2108
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Lexi Ruiz of Tuloso-Midway High School was honored
for her exceptional achievements during the 2014-2015 season by
being chosen as a member of the first team in the Corpus Christi
Caller-Times All-South Texas basketball awards selections; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Ruiz averaged 14 points, 3 steals, and 2.7
assists per game, helping the Cherokees advance to the regional
semifinals of the playoffs for the second straight season;
moreover, she was selected for the 30-4A All-District team for the
second year in a row; and
WHEREAS, The daughter of Michael and Victoria Ruiz, Lexi Ruiz
is an accomplished student, serving as a member of the Student
Council and the National Honor Society; after graduation, she will
attend Texas Lutheran University on a partial basketball
scholarship, and she plans to major in nursing; and
WHEREAS, The All-South Texas award provides fitting
acknowledgement of the talent, hard work, and commitment to
excellence demonstrated by this exemplary student-athlete, and she
may take justifiable pride in her accomplishments; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Lexi Ruiz on being chosen as a
member of the first team in the Corpus Christi Caller-Times
All-South Texas basketball awards selections and extend to her
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Ruiz as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
