H.R. No. 2109 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Victoria Blankenship of West Oso High School was honored for her exceptional achievements during the 2014-2015 season by being chosen as a member of the first team in the Corpus Christi Caller-Times All-South Texas basketball awards selections; and WHEREAS, Ms. Blankenship averaged 15.4 points and 9.4 rebounds per game and helped lead the Lady Bears to the district title and on to the area round of the 4A playoffs; for the second consecutive year, she was named Co-Most Valuable Player in the 31-4A All-District awards and garnered 4A All-State honors; and WHEREAS, The daughter of Jerome Blankenship and Crystal Conigland-Powell, Victoria Blankenship is an outstanding student, ranked in the top 10 percent of her junior class; she is a member of the National Honor Society and the Student Council, and she is currently enrolled in dual credit courses with Del Mar College; after graduation, she hopes to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she wants to study sports and chiropractic medicine and continue to play basketball; and WHEREAS, The All-South Texas award provides fitting acknowledgement of the talent, hard work, and commitment to excellence demonstrated by this exemplary student-athlete, and she may take justifiable pride in her accomplishments; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Victoria Blankenship on being chosen as a member of the first team in the Corpus Christi Caller-Times All-South Texas basketball awards selections and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Blankenship as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
