No. 2126 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, In recognition of her notable contributions to area athletics, Cathy Supak is being inducted into the Southwest Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame at the organization's 2015 meeting, which is taking place from July 16 to 18 in Houston; and WHEREAS, A native of Hondo, Ms. Supak graduated from Westlake High School in Austin and earned her bachelor's degree from Southwest Texas State University in 1984; she began her career at La Porte High School, and for the past 23 years she has distinguished herself as head athletic trainer at Clear Brook High School in Friendswood; and WHEREAS, Ms. Supak has further benefited her profession as president of the Greater Houston Athletic Trainers' Society and as a founding member and president of the Texas State Athletic Trainers' Association; she has been an active member of SWATA for more than three decades, and she was appointed to the Texas Advisory Board of Athletic Trainers in 2013 by Governor Rick Perry; and WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan is the recipient of many well-deserved accolades, among which are the National Athletic Trainers' Association Athletic Trainer Service Award, the GHATS Bobby Gunn Award and Logan Wood Award for Meritorious Service, and the Certificate of Merit from the American Red Cross; moreover, Ms. Supak was previously honored by SWATA with the Ross Moss Award for Leadership as well as the 2011 Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award; and WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Supak enjoys the love and support of a fine family that includes her husband, Ray, and her two children, Amanda and Cameron; and WHEREAS, Cathy Supak has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to her profession and to ensuring the well-being of young athletes, and she may take justifiable pride in her accomplishments as she accepts this prestigious hall of fame honor; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Cathy Supak on her induction into the Southwest Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Supak as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
