 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Dr. Larry Lee, a retired dean at Del Mar College in
 Corpus Christi, has been named dean emeritus by the college's board
 of regents; and
 WHEREAS, Emeritus status is conferred on select former
 faculty members and administrators in recognition of their
 significant contributions to the educational community; many of
 these distinguished individuals continue to serve the university
 during their retirement; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. Lee joined the staff of Del Mar College in 1988
 and went on to serve as chair for the Department of Computer
 Science, Engineering and Advanced Technology before assuming his
 most recent post in 2009 as dean of the Division of Business,
 Professional and Technology Education; throughout his 27-year
 tenure, he has been instrumental in acquiring nearly $6 million in
 grant funding for the university's needs, and he worked to enhance
 program offerings through the expansion of the engineering program
 while coordinating the development of numerous degrees and
 certificates; and
 WHEREAS, This dynamic educator has helped earn his department
 Exemplary Program Awards from the Texas Higher Education
 Coordinating Board in 2000 and 2005 in addition to Texas Skill
 Standards Board recognition for two of its degree programs;
 committed to furthering the stature of the school, he has also
 traveled across the state as a representative of the college and
 formed key academic partnerships with universities, school
 districts, and agencies in its service area; and
 WHEREAS, Through his myriad endeavors in behalf of Del Mar
 College, Dr. Larry Lee has contributed immeasurably to advancing
 the mission of that institution, and he is indeed deserving of this
 prestigious accolade; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Larry Lee on his designation as
 dean emeritus at Del Mar College and extend to him sincere best
 wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Dr. Lee as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
