 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Alberto Escamilla has distinguished himself as a
 gifted and accomplished artist, and his creative work has earned
 the admiration of his fellow Texans; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Sanderson, Mr. Escamilla enrolled at The
 University of Texas at El Paso on an athletic scholarship but soon
 felt a longing to pursue his interest in art; during his studies, he
 was inspired by a group of painters known as the "Independents,"
 whose techniques he incorporated into his own style of painting;
 with his mastery of color and brushstroke and his depiction of
 tranquil pastoral scenes, his paintings also recall the work of the
 impressionists; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Escamilla has been inducted into the El Paso
 Artists' Hall of Fame, and a bronze plaque in his honor is on
 permanent display at the International Museum of Art in El Paso; he
 has placed first in the Sierra Providence Arts International Show,
 a prestigious local arts event, and from 1992 to 1999, he was the
 exclusive poster artist for the International Festival de la
 Zarzuela; moreover, his paintings have been featured in an
 assortment of galleries, publications, and television segments in
 El Paso and beyond; and
 WHEREAS, Alberto Escamilla's talent and passion for his craft
 are reflected in the impressive body of work that he has created
 over the course of his career, and his dedicated efforts have
 furthered the Lone Star State's reputation for excellence in the
 arts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Alberto Escamilla for his artistic
 achievements and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
 success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Escamilla as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
