H.R. No. 2533
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The members of the Livingston High School journalism
team have distinguished themselves by winning first place at the
University Interscholastic League District 18-5A meet; and
WHEREAS, The Livingston Lions include Alison Faith, a junior,
who led the squad by placing first in the features competition,
second in both news and editorials, and third in headlines; Zoe
McDowell, a freshman, placed second in ready writing, fourth in
editorials, and fifth in features; the team also benefited from
strong contributions made by freshmen Ansleigh Brister and Penelope
Miller; and
WHEREAS, Ably guided by their coach Marci Dickens, Ms. Faith
and Ms. McDowell both qualified for the regional meet; and
WHEREAS, These outstanding young Texans have demonstrated
great initiative and ability, and they may indeed look forward to a
future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the Livingston High
School journalism team on their first-place win at the UIL 18-5A
meet and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
