 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Sophia Marie Garman of Waco has deservedly been
 named a 2015 Outstanding Youth Citizen, and this achievement indeed
 merits special recognition; and
 WHEREAS, Cosponsored by the Rotary Club of Waco and the Waco
 Tribune-Herald, the Youth Citizenship Awards annually honor
 McLennan County high school seniors who have set an inspiring
 example of volunteerism in their communities; and
 WHEREAS, A student at Rapoport Academy, Ms. Garman has
 demonstrated a commitment to service by launching an Amnesty
 International chapter at her school to help educate her peers about
 human rights; she has also served as an intern for Baylor
 University's Texas Hunger Initiative, for which she conducted
 research on improving access to healthy foods for young people, and
 she has contributed to the Art Center of Waco, the Waco Downtown
 Farmers Market, and Caritas of Waco; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Garman has further distinguished herself on
 campus as a member of the National Honor Society, the For
 Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology Robotics
 team, and the art club, and she placed first at the Central Texas
 Science and Engineering Fair and fourth in the ready writing
 competition at the University Interscholastic League academics
 meet; and
 WHEREAS, Those individuals who give generously of their time
 and talents strengthen the communities in which they live, and it is
 a pleasure to recognize Sophia Marie Garman for her work in behalf
 of the greater good; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Sophia Marie Garman on her
 selection as a 2015 Outstanding Youth Citizen and extend to her
 sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Garman as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
