H.R. No. 2667
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The members of the Live Oak Classical School mock
trial team captured the championship at the 2015 Region 12 High
School Mock Trial Competition held February 10-12 in Waco; and
WHEREAS, Matching up against talented teams from area
schools, students from Live Oak displayed a keen knowledge of the
facts and intricate details of their assigned case while arguing
before members of the Waco-McLennan County Bar Association who
volunteered their time to serve as judges; the squad defeated
challengers from Vanguard College Preparatory School to progress to
the final round, where they triumphed over Midway High School to
claim the regional crown; and
WHEREAS, With its championship victory, the team earned the
right to participate in the Texas High School Mock Trial
Competition in Dallas; members of the 2015 team are Price Brown,
Luke Morrison, Ridley Holmes, Ben Garst, Taylor Daily, Jonathan
Keen, Noah Totten, Daniel Bailey, Elise Holmes, and Tony Garvelli;
these bright young Texans were ably supported throughout the year
by coach Merritt Denman; and
WHEREAS, With their achievements at the 2015 Region 12 High
School Mock Trial Competition, the members of the Live Oak mock
trial team have continued their school's tradition of
extracurricular achievement, and they may take justifiable pride in
the skill and dedication they have demonstrated; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Live Oak Classical School mock
trial team on winning first place at the Region 12 High School Mock
Trial Competition and extend to the team's members sincere best
wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
