 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Edgar Manuel Torres Ovando has ably served the
 people of Texas as a senior education fellow in the office of State
 Representative Mary González during the 84th Legislative Session;
 and
 WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Mr. Torres Ovando has
 provided vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging
 tasks; his primary focus has been on education matters, and he has
 learned more about the legislative process and issues confronting
 schools in the Lone Star State while gaining valuable experience in
 the field of public service; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico, Mr. Torres
 Ovando is the son of Dr. Roberto L. Torres and Maria T. Ovando; he
 is studying education policy and planning as a student in the
 doctoral program in education administration at The University of
 Texas at Austin; a former teacher, instructional coach, and school
 administrator, he was named Alice Independent School District
 Secondary Teacher of the Year for 2010-2011; and
 WHEREAS, This noteworthy Texan has performed his duties as a
 senior education fellow with skill and dedication, and he is indeed
 deserving of special recognition for his fine work; now, therefore,
 be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby commend Edgar Manuel Torres Ovando for his
 service as a senior education fellow in the office of State
 Representative Mary González and extend to him sincere best wishes
 for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Torres Ovando as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas House of Representatives.
