 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The talented cast and crew of the Martinsville High
 School One-Act Play Company have advanced to the 2015 University
 Interscholastic League One-Act Play State Meet; and
 WHEREAS, The Martinsville Theatre's One-Act Play Company
 impressed judges at the Region 3-2A One-Act Play competition with
 its outstanding production of Picnic on the Battlefield by Fernando
 Arrabal to secure a spot at the 89th Annual State One-Act Play
 Contest in Austin; the regional triumph followed the company's fine
 showing at the district, bi-district, and area competitions, and it
 was made all the more special by the fact that the 2014-2015
 academic year marked the first year of existence for the MHS Theatre
 Department; and
 WHEREAS, Martinsville earned the Outstanding Crew award and a
 number of students received individual honors for their work at
 regionals, including Collin Davis as Outstanding Crew Member,
 Jaramie Martin and Alli Beck as All-Star Cast honorable mentions,
 and Halie Morris as Best Actress; and
 WHEREAS, Also contributing to the group's success were Mariah
 Goree, J. T. Scates, Jasmine Ryan, Karen Salazar-Martinez, Ashlyn
 Anderson, Ashlynn Stamps, Laurel Hargis, Abby DeRise, Brianna Ryan,
 Brandon Asher, and Gaige Mason; these gifted young Texans were ably
 guided by director Matt Perry and assistant directors Becky Martin
 and Dawn Ryan; and
 WHEREAS, Reaching the state contest requires countless hours
 of rehearsal and an unwavering commitment to excellence, and the
 members of the Martinsville Theatre's One-Act Play Company may take
 well-deserved satisfaction in this outstanding accomplishment;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the Martinsville
 High School One-Act Play Company on qualifying for the 2015 UIL
 One-Act Play State Meet and extend to them sincere best wishes for
 the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the students as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
