H.R. No. 360 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Virginia R. Garza retired as the meal site manager at the Driscoll Community Center on December 31, 2014, drawing to a close a 27-year tenure with Nueces County Senior Community Services and a lifelong career spent caring for the needs of her fellow citizens; and WHEREAS, Ms. Garza began working at the Driscoll Community Center in 2003, after serving as the meal site manager at the Robstown Community Center for more than 15 years; in these roles, she was tasked with overseeing and recruiting volunteers for the senior citizen nutrition program and motivating her clients at the centers to maintain healthy, active lifestyles; in addition, this compassionate Texan personally delivered meals to homebound residents in the area, a practice she carried on from her nine years as a van driver with the City of Corpus Christi; and WHEREAS, A native of Nueces County, Ms. Garza was born in Floresville and raised in Robstown, where she started her career in 1974 as a bus driver for the Robstown Independent School District and later served as a child care paraprofessional at the Wesley Community Center; in all her endeavors, she has enjoyed the love and support of her three children, Rosa Linda, Sylvia, and Ruben, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, The kindness and dedication that Virginia Garza brought to her duties helped countless older Texans enjoy a greater quality of life, and she may reflect with pride on her many achievements as she embarks on her well-deserved retirement; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Virginia R. Garza on her retirement from Nueces County Senior Community Services and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Garza as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
