No. 750 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Residents of Grand Prairie lost an admired civic leader with the passing of Harry Englert on February 13, 2015; and WHEREAS, Born in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1930, Mr. Englert earned an engineering degree from Vanderbilt University and a master's degree from Southern Methodist University; and WHEREAS, Mr. Englert's career as an engineer spanned more than four decades, and he worked at LTV, General Dynamics, and Lockheed Martin; he also notably served as a lead project engineer on Boeing's 747 passenger aircraft; and WHEREAS, In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Englert was elected to the Grand Prairie City Council and served as mayor pro tem; he further contributed to his community through his work with local charities, and he was a valued member of the First United Methodist Church in Grand Prairie for 60 years; and WHEREAS, An enthusiastic traveler, Mr. Englert met the love of his life, the former Judy DeKoster, while visiting Yellowstone National Park; the couple shared 56 years together before Mrs. Englert's passing in 2010, and they were blessed with three children, Sarah, Ruth, and John; Mr. Englert delighted in traveling with his wife, children, and grandchildren, and he journeyed to all 50 states and to many countries around the world; and WHEREAS, A devoted family man and an engaged citizen, Harry Englert will be deeply missed, but he leaves behind a record of good works that his loved ones can remember with pride; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Harry Englert and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his children, Sarah, Ruth, and John; to his four grandchildren; to his brother and sisters-in-law; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Harry Englert.
