No. 797 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends of Josephine Longoria of Edinburg, who passed away on January 8, 2015, at the age of 58; and WHEREAS, Born on July 29, 1956, to C. J. and Dorothy Dufour, Jody Longoria grew up in Edinburg with three older sisters; she attended St. Joseph's Catholic School as a young girl and later graduated from Edinburg High School, where she was a member of the school choir and volleyball team; she went on to earn a degree from Texas A&I University before spending 17 years as a supervisor with the Texas Department of Human Services; she eventually found her true calling in the classroom, dedicating nearly two decades of her life as a teacher at Johnny G. Economedes High School; and WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan frequently volunteered her time with a number of worthwhile community organizations, including local 4H and FFA clubs, the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show, and the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; and WHEREAS, Blessed with a loving family, Mrs. Longoria enjoyed 34 years of rewarding marriage with her husband, Osvaldo; she was the devoted mother of two sons, Justin and Kyle, and she later knew the joy of welcoming a grandson, Luke, into her cherished family; and WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Jody Longoria will remember the way she touched their lives with her warmth, optimism, and wonderful sense of humor, and she will forever hold a treasured place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Josephine Longoria and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband, Osvaldo Longoria Jr.; to her sons, Justin Longoria and his wife, Glenda, and Kyle Longoria; to her grandson, Luke Longoria; to her sisters, Laura Crist and her husband, Bobby, Norma Perez and her husband, Ralph, and Adell Dufour; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jody Longoria.
