The bill would amend the Government Code to expand the availability of veterans treatment court programs to defendants who were victims of military sexual trauma, as described. The bill would also provide a court more discretion to order participation in a veterans court program if the court found, after considering the defendant's conduct, background and criminal history, that participation would ensure public safety and rehabilitate the veteran.  Judges could place defendants in a veterans treatment court program located in another county if there is no program in the county of the court presiding over the defendants case. The Office of Court Administration indicates that bill provisions are not anticipated to have a significant fiscal implication on the court system. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. The bill would amend the Government Code to expand the availability of veterans treatment court programs to defendants who were victims of military sexual trauma, as described.
