This date was chosen to coincide with city elections. However, November elections have historically had better turn out. In order to increase participation in elections, stakeholders have urged a November election date. This bill changes the election date from May to November. As proposed, S.B. 1542 amends current law relating to the election of the board of directors of the Fisher County Hospital District. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 1027.051(c), Special District Local Laws Code, to require that an election for the board of directors for the Fisher County Hospital District be held on the uniform election date in November, rather than May, of each year to elect the appropriate number of directors. SECTION 2. Requires the board of directors of the Fisher County Hospital District to adjust the terms of office of directors to conform to the change in the election date made by this Act. SECTION 3.
