The bill would amend the Government Code relating to a study on homeless veterans.The bill directs the Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA), in conjunction with other members of the Texas Interagency Council for the Homeless, to conduct a study on homeless veterans and submit a report to the legislature including a summary of information resulting from the study and recommendations for changes in law necessary to provide services to or otherwise assist homeless veterans. Based on the analysis of TDHCA, the Department of Family and Protective Services, the Texas Education Agency and the University of Texas System Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
