The bill would require the Commissioner of Education to exclude certain adult students receiving special education services from the computation of dropout and completion rates for purposes of public school accountability.The Texas Education Agency indicates it could absorb the costs associated with the bill within its current resources. Local Government Impact There would be some administrative costs to districts to begin the collection and reporting of a new Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) data element. The costs would vary from district to district depending on whether the district Student Information System (SIS) was vendor provided or locally developed.
