                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 28, 2015      TO: Honorable Dan Patrick, Lieutenant Governor, Senate      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB1934 by Campbell (Relating to requirements for the issuance of a driver's license or personal identification certificate. ), As Passed 2nd House    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Transportation Code to stipulate how the Department of Public Safety (DPS) may request and use a driver license applicant's social security number, and would apply the same standards to personal identification cards. The bill would require an individual to surrender their identification card to get a driver license, and their driver license to get an identification card. The bill would also amend the Government Code to require DPS to conduct a study on the feasibility of allowing a digitally displayed driver's license as proof of possessing a valid driver's license.It is assumed implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
