                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 29, 2015      TO: Honorable John Whitmire, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB1944 by Huffman (relating to the disposition of a firearm seized from certain persons with mental illness.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure, regarding the disposition of firearms seized from a person with mental illness and would extend current procedures to cover persons released from emergency detention after a court determines that no probable cause exists to order continued mental health services. The Office of Court Administration indicates implementing bill provisions are not anticipated to have a significant fiscal implication in the court system. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
