A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the use of brokerage statements to meet certain
requirements for reports of political contributions and
expenditures.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 254.036, Election Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
(a-1) A report filed under this chapter may satisfy the
requirements of Sections 254.031(a)(11), (12), and (13) by
including a brokerage statement with the filed report that contains
all of the information required under those sections. The
brokerage statement, if filed by computer diskette, modem, or other
means of electronic transfer, may be submitted in PDF format.
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
to a report filed under Chapter 254, Election Code, that is due on
or after the effective date of this Act. A report filed under that
chapter that is due before the effective date of this Act is
governed by the law in effect on the date the report is due, and the
former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2016.
