                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 8, 2015      TO: Honorable John Zerwas, Chair, House Committee on Higher Education      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB295 by Schwertner (Relating to tracking career information for graduates of Texas medical schools and persons completing medical residency programs in Texas.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would require the Higher Education Coordinating Board to establish, no later than January 1, 2016, a system to acquire and maintain data regarding the initial residency program choices made by graduates of medical schools in Texas and the initial practice choices made by persons completing medical residency programs in this state.  Based on information submitted by institutions of higher education, it is assumed the provisions of the bill could be implemented within existing resources. The Higher Education Coordinating Board estimates there would be a minimal cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill.  The bill would take effect September 1, 2015. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
