The bill would amend the Local Government Code to permit a county officer to access certain information from a county governmental body. The bill would establish a procedure of maintaining confidentiality of the information. Under the provisions of the bill, a county officer may seek a decision from the Attorney General whether information is confidential or excepted from disclosure. The Attorney General would be required to respond to the county by issuing a written decision within 45 days or within an extension of the 45 day period by 10 business days. A county officer or county governmental body may appeal the decision to a district court under certain conditions. The Office of Court Administration reported no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
