The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure, relating to post conviction DNA analysis. The bill would authorize a motion and order for DNA-testing of evidence when there is a reasonable likelihood of the evidence containing biological material. The Office of Court Administration indicates that bill provisions are not anticipated to have a significant fiscal implication on the court system. In this analysis, it is assumed the Department of Public Safety could reasonably absorb bill provisions within the department's existing resources.
