                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 6, 2015      TO: Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Finance      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB53 by Nelson (Relating to strategic fiscal reviews for state agencies and programs.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Government Code to require the Legislative Budget Board (LBB) to perform a strategic fiscal review for all agencies currently the subject of a Sunset Advisory Commission review under chapter 325, Government Code.  The bill would require the LBB to submit a report of the findings of the strategic fiscal review performed under the requirements of the bill by September 1st of even numbered years to the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Senate Finance Committee, and the House Appropriations Committee.  The bill would allow the Legislature to consider the strategic fiscal review reports in connection with the legislative appropriation process.
