                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 27, 2015      TO: Honorable Joan Huffman, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB817 by Rodríguez (Relating to the definitions of dating violence and family violence for purposes of the issuance of a protective order.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Chapter 71 of the Family Code to replace references to victim with applicant for a protective order in the definition of dating violence. The bill also expands the definition of abuse within the meaning of family violence.The Office of Court Administration does not anticipate any significant fiscal impact to the state court system resulting from this bill. The bill would go into effect on September 1, 2015.  Local Government Impact No significant fiscal impact to local courts is anticipated.
