The bill would amend the Transportation Code to include a towed vehicle that transports and spreads fertilizer or agricultural chemicals and a motor vehicle designed and adapted to deliver livestock feed in the definition of "implement of husbandry." The bill would provide a vehicle width limitation exception for these vehicles when operating on a public highway under certain conditions established under current law. Based on the information provided by the Texas Department of Transportation, Department of Public Safety, and Department of Motor Vehicles, it is assumed implementation of the bill would not result in a significant fiscal or operational impact to the state.Note: The Department of Public Safety indicates that new exemptions and/or definitions for certain vehicles under the provisions of the bill could conflict with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations regarding Commercial Motor Vehicles, which could result in the loss of federal Motor Carrier Safety Assurance Program funds. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
