SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 298
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Ennis High School Lions football team, which
recently won the 2014 Class 5A Division II state championship
title; and
WHEREAS, The Lions won their fifth Class 5A Division II
state championship in football by defeating Cedar Park High School
by a score of 38-35 at Cowboys AT&T Stadium in Arlington; and
WHEREAS, These young athletes have demonstrated great
talent and perseverance over the course of the season; team
members can take pride in their outstanding performance; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of a dedicated coaching
staff, the Lions have developed exceptional teamwork and
discipline; and
WHEREAS, Ennis High School and the people of Ennis are
proud of the Lions for their hard work, their impressive skills,
and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby commend the Ennis High School Lions for their
successful season and extend congratulations to them on winning the
Class 5A Division II state football championship; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
