SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 391
WHEREAS, The Hub Phestival takes place each spring in
Pharr, providing area residents and visitors alike with a range
of fun and enjoyable activities; and
WHEREAS, One such attraction is the popular HubPhest
Cook-Off, which is sanctioned by the International Barbeque
Cookers Association as one of the organization's annual state
cook-offs; established in 2009, this spirited culinary contest
draws pit masters from Pharr and wide who strive to create the
tastiest barbecue in several different categories; and
WHEREAS, Another highlight of this multifaceted
celebration is the festival stage, which hosts a variety of
talented performers, including local school groups; in addition,
the gathering includes a carnival, a food court, Pharr Nature Day
exhibits, and the South Texas Margarita Showdown; and
WHEREAS, The HubPhest Cook-Off offers a Texas-style
friendly but competitive atmosphere, and attendees are sure to
enjoy themselves at this highly anticipated event; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby recognize the HubPhest Cook-Off and extend to
all those involved sincere best wishes for a memorable Phestival.
