                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 27, 2017      TO: Honorable Dan Patrick, Lieutenant Governor, Senate  Honorable Joe Straus, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1036 by Thompson, Senfronia (Relating to coverage for certain breast cancer screening procedures under certain health benefit plans.), Conference Committee Report    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Insurance Code relating to coverage for certain breast cancer screening procedures under certain health benefit plans. Based on information provided by the Texas Department of Insurance, Employees Retirement System, and Teacher Retirement System, this analysis assumes the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.  The bill would take effect on September 1, 2017; however, the provisions of the bill would only apply to a health benefit plan that is delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed on or after January 1, 2018. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. The bill would amend the Insurance Code relating to coverage for certain breast cancer screening procedures under certain health benefit plans. Based on information provided by the Texas Department of Insurance, Employees Retirement System, and Teacher Retirement System, this analysis assumes the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
