                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 85TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 2, 2017      TO: Honorable Jodie Laubenberg, Chair, House Committee on Elections      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1086 by Goldman (Relating to increasing the penalty for unlawful participation in a primary election or convention.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Election Code relating to increasing the penalty for unlawful participation in a primary election or convention.The Secretary of State, Office of Court Administration, and Department of Criminal Justice assume any additional work associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed using existing resources. This analysis assumes the provisions of the bill addressing felony sanctions for criminal offenses would not result in a significant impact on state correctional agencies.The bill would take effect on September 1, 2017. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
